Emmy® Awards Membership Information

About

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recognizes, encourages and advances excellence in the television industry across all media by serving as an educational and professional resource to our members and to the industry.

We reward outstanding professional, technical and personal achievement in the arts and sciences of television by conferring the industry’s highly coveted peer recognition symbol of distinction, the Emmy® award.

Membership is open to professionals, those in associated fields and students. You must have been involved in television for at least one year in order to be approved by the Membership Committee.

Associate Members are those who support the advancement of television, but do not work in the designated professional categories. Student Members are enrolled in an accredited institution.

The Emmy Awards provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussion about the television industry. It affords opportunities to meet colleagues both professionally and socially. It promotes professional development in the industry and the community.

Services & Activities

Emmy® Awards
Awarded for excellence and outstanding achievement in television—locally, nationally and internationally.

Emmy® Awards Judging
Members have the opportunity to judge the work of their peers in other local chapters around the country. Depending on your particular qualifications, you may participate in national Emmy® Award judgings as well.

Education
The National Student Television Award of Excellence, presented by the Foundation of the National Academy Television of Television Arts and Sciences, promotes journalistic excellence among aspiring broadcasters by honoring high school students who present work that exemplifies the best practices of the profession.

Scholarships
Major college scholarships are awarded annually to exceptionally talented students pursuing careers in broadcasting. Scholarships are awarded by both the national organization and local chapters.

Networking
Members have the opportunity to interact with colleagues in the full range of television disciplines at formal and informal gatherings.

Seminars
Informative seminars are presented on a wide spectrum of topics, including cutting-edge technologies. Seminars feature Emmy® Award recipients and nominees, television professionals and industry experts.

Silver Circle
Television pioneers whose careers have spanned a quarter century or more, are nominated by their local chapters and become honored members of this prestigious group.

Gold Circle
This prestigious award honors television pioneers whose careers have spanned a half-century or more.
